Saturday 1st XI

The Saturday 1st XI represents the club’s highest level of competitive cricket and remains central to life at Wilcot CC. Playing in the Wiltshire County Cricket League, the side combines experienced senior players with a new generation of talented cricketers emerging through the club’s youth system. Competitive and ambitious in approach, the team is equally defined by the spirit in which the game is played — serious cricket delivered with warmth, camaraderie and a strong connection to village cricket traditions. From long summer evenings in the Vale of Pewsey to tightly fought league fixtures, the 1st XI reflects the character of Wilcot itself: welcoming, committed and quietly competitive.

Captain - Nick Brown

Nick Brown leads the Saturday 1st XI with the calm authority of a man who has seen most things happen on a cricket field before — and probably has a story about them afterwards. Equally comfortable setting a field as organising life beyond the boundary rope, Nick brings experience, humour and a steady hand to the side. Known for keeping spirits high during long afternoons in the field and for the occasional sharp tactical decision that may or may not have been entirely intentional, he embodies the best of village cricket captains: competitive when it matters, welcoming to new players, and always ready to stay behind for a drink after the game.
